$200/site visit + report & recommendations — This service is perfect for DIYers wanting expert advice and guidance before tackling their own garden makeover. It is a component of the garden design process but also a stand alone service. During a 2 hour onsite meeting we will discuss your desires, needs and budget as well as assess the opportunities and constraints of your property. After this I will provide you with a report including a site analysis, recommendations and any council regulations, restrictions or guides that apply to your property or garden makeover.
$1,000 - $3,000 — Each garden is unique and so is each design process. Below is a breakdown of a typical process.
Consultation and creation of Client Brief - During an onsite meeting we will discuss your desires, needs and budget as well as assess the opportunities and constraints of your property. This information will be used to formulate a client brief and fees proposal.
Site survey - A site survey will be undertaken to identify and locate existing garden features such as garden beds, retaining walls, paths, planting and any structures along with boundary lines and building footprints. I use this as the base plan for the concept design along with any existing plans.
Concept and Planting Design - A concept plan will show the spatial arrangement of proposed garden features, activity zones along with estimated levels of all modified surfaces. A mood board for theme/style of hardscape elements and planting style will allow you to ‘see’ the design intent. Concept sketches and diagrams such as cross sections and perspective drawings may be included as required to communicate levels and design intentions. There may be multiple planting plans created to cover the various areas. Descriptive terms for the size, form and purpose of planted areas will be used to annotate a spatial layout/composition. An indicative plant pallet of suitable species based on soil type, sun and wind exposure and existing planting and architecture style. This is not an exhaustive document and other choices are available based on the clients personal preference.
Detailed design - Plans and details for hardscape elements will be drawn. Final planting plans with plant schedule will be drawn.
Presentation - The outputs created in the concept and planting design stage will be presented to you in an on site meeting where I will walk you through your new garden.
