Covid Catio

After a period of obligatory do nothing and binge watch series till there is nothing left, Tiger King appeared.

I was cat-ivated.

Our cat Rusty often followed us down to the dairy before the lock down, but now she's starting joining us for our iso walks around the block. At first she would only follow us so far, we weren't sure if she stopped because of the other people on the street or if she had reached the edge or her turf and didn't want to step on anyone's toes. Until we decided to go at night. She ran along in the kerb keeping low to the ground, silent and frisky. Under the cover of night she had become a stealth huntress.

Something that I didn't expect about the lock down was not patting any doggos and cats I encountered. I considered putting Rusty into iso with us and locking her cat door. Some people have inside only cats and dogs and I've always thought that was weird and kinda sad for the animals. I suppose some people do it to protect their pet from a busy road or wild animals but on the flip side others would be doing it to protect wild animals. I've seen Rusty munching down on birds and mice she's caught and felt a bit bad but glad that at least it she ate them.

Awhile ago I stumbled across catios, which are a secure enclosed patio for your cat. These range from simple chicken coop style runs attached to a window to full blown tree house palaces. These people know how to do pet iso in style.

5 hours later I found myself 5 hours deep in a catio rabbit hole. These are my findings. I think Carole Baskin would be proud.
